Jeffrey Lee Adams was born in Talladega, Alabama, in 1958, the middle son of Bibb and Elinor Adams. He is married to Janet Perryman Adams and has three children, son Stephen (daughter-in-law, Rachel and grandchildren-Caleb Spurgeon, David Owen, and Samuel Mason) and two daughters, Brooke and Jayci. He graduated from Jacksonville State University and attended Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, attaining a Master of Divinity. He start his service as a minister as Senior Pastor of Cartersville Baptist Church located in Alpine, Alabama. Currently, he serves as Senior Pastor of Providence Baptist Church located in Harpersville, Alabama.
